2006 KL International Motor Show Pix (Part 1)

Went to the KL International Motorshow (KLIMS) 2006 on Saturday, 27 May 06. Here are a selection of photos.

Washed the car before leaving for the show. A clean car means a clean mind, hehe.....

Rumours abound that the production version of this Nissan will be sold in Malaysia. All the rice boys, watch out!

Photo of Panasonic chick taken with a Panasonic Lumix camera (ah, a match made in heaven)

Candice, another hot chick from Panasonic.

The new Hyundai Santa Fe (what is it about Korean carmakers and names of American towns? Tucson is another example)

Ferrari's secret new weapon - forget about active wings, they've decided to add a sleek new "aerodynamic" element just above the right front wheels to distract people's attention =))

The Renault Clio - eh uncle, that car is meant for chicks. You don't wanna be caught sitting in the driver's seat, k?

Spot the Lotus, I mean Proton, I mean, urmmmm...

One of the Ducati bikes on display. Sadly, there were no bikes from Honda, Yamaha, Aprilia, Kawaski, etc at the show.

The Sony gal inviting you to test her car's sound system.

Stay tuned for more photos in part 2 (when I have time to update)

At ShanDong

Went makan in the kampung. They plant their own sayur. Damn good the food, much better than the restaurant, and it is hygenic.

Some starters. Just like mom's cookings. There are more but people are too busy with the food, they don't even allow a second to take pictures.

From the peak of Mt. Tai (泰山), where the Emperor Qin (秦始皇) and alot other Emperors came here for the 'praying ceremony', Emperor Qing was the first to visit Mt. Tai. During the olden days, it was believed that Mt. Tai is the tallest and nearest to the sky, hence the 'praying'. For those who are familiar, 孔子曰:"登东山而小鲁,登泰山而小天下"。

Peak of Mt. Tai.

There are about 6k stairs from to the peak. Took around 5-6 hours from bottom to top. This is the steepest area, about 60 degree against the ground level.

Yeah, it is the cherry season! Delicious!

The New Miss Universe

Twenty five-year-old Sum Part Mui, an internal auditor from Malaysia, won the Miss Universe 2006 title at a sparkling ceremony in Panama City on Tuesday night, beating a field of 70 other pageant queens with her charm and charisma.

After reaching the final five with her sheer poise and good looks, Sum Part Mui clinched the pageant with her reply to the final question put to the leading finalists -- "What is the most precious gift you've ever given someone?"

"I once gave my Bert to Balak," said Sum, to the applause of some 7,500 festive pageant-goers in the packed auditorium.

It was the first time a contestant from Malaysia, a Manglish-speaking country that shares it’s borders with Singapore, an island in filled with people from the Kia Su variety.

Miss Crazy Raccoon, a 26-year-old consultant, was the first runner-up while Miss Ah Kwa Choo, a 28-year-old transvestite from PJ, was the second runner-up.

The winners were announced at the end of a gala night of parades in figure-hugging swimsuits and shimmering evening gowns in the $10-million Figali Convention Centre on the banks of the Pacific entrance to the Panama Canal.

Organisers estimated some 600 million people in more than 150 countries tuned in to watch the pageant, a show business perennial jointly owned by property tycoon Donald Trump and NBC Television.

As Miss Universe 2006, Sum Part Mui will take home a year's salary and hold public engagements around the world that will include fund-raising and campaigning for Bert’s research and awareness.

But not everyone was charmed by the beauty queens.

Thousands of Panamanians protested hours before the start of the contest, saying the $9million the government paid to host the event could have been better spent on the country's poor, who make up 40 per cent of Panama's 2.8 million population.
